Job Details

The Target Information Group (TIG) is looking to hire a Scientist, who will collaborate closely with the Obesity, Muscle & Metabolism Therapeutic Focus area (TFA). We provide an extensive searching of the scientific literature and databases to provide a detailed review of all relevant publications. This includes genomic, gene expression, and biological pathway analyses and a synopsis of the indicated disease state. Analysis of new therapeutic opportunities surrounding novel drug candidates or disease mechanisms is also in our scope.
Working as a member of TIG and utilizing expertise in metabolic systems, we expect this person will conduct in-depth analysis of protein targets and/or drug target candidates. You will be assessing gene expression, protein structure/function, and biological/medical relevance for these drug target candidates families. Investigations may also include the analysis of large data sets from human and mouse studies directed to understanding the molecular basis of human disease.

As a Scientist in the TIG, a typical day may include the following:

  • Searching, assembling, critically analyzing and translating the biology and genetics of target-disease associations and providing an assessment of the strengths and weakness of different analytical methods and individual studies.

  • Working closely with members of each of the Regeneron TFA’s to identify and evaluate specific target(s) and disease indications and to deliver in a timely fashion, a balanced analysis for each topic.

  • Contributing to the development and optimization of “knowledge base” intranet resources and assist in archiving, sharing and leveraging of all available information.

  • Applying biological knowledge and strategy to the curation of large data sets for use by Regeneron TFA’s and Tech Centers.

  • Conducting text-based searching using state-of-the art tools involving natural language processing(e.g. Linguamatics) which may be a resource utilized in your investigative work

This may be the role for you if:

  • You want to bring to bear your passion for science, but are ready to move away from the bench

  • You are interested in the intersection between data and biology in this new role

  • You want broad exposure to disease biology from many therapeutic areas

  • You want a role that is flexible in taking on new tasks and establishes credibility and rapport as well as communicates effectively with research colleagues and senior management

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a Ph.D. and 3+ yrs experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech industry or a highly collaborative environment. This experience should include a proven ability to identify key information sources and critically analyze public literature, to mine gene, protein, patent and proprietary databases and to prepare concise summaries on a range of topics. Experience working with cross-functional teams or in a matrix environment is highly desired. A preference given to candidates with experience in metabolism/Type II diabetes (T2DM)/obesity. Please provide a cover letter explaining your interest in this role.
