Laboratory Technician

We are currently searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC and it is on-site in Bethesda, MD.

• Maintain proper experimental and procedural records
• Tissue and sample processing for downstream applications
• Cell fluorescence staining and data collection by flow cytometry
• ELISA and Luminex assays of collected samples
• Tissue preparation and fluorescence staining for confocal microscopy
• Bacterial burden quantification of tissues by agar plate dilutions
• Handle bacterial cultures and stocks, preparing new stocks when necessary
• Perform in vitro cell culturing and bacterial killing/growth assays
• Assist in SOP development and ASP amendments
• Work in a BSL-3 high containment environment
• Work in an Animal BSL-3 high containment environment
• Yearly BSL3 laboratory decontamination
• BSL3 laboratory space and equipment maintenance
• Attend lab meetings and departmental seminars

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related discipline required.
• Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a BSL-3 high-containment laboratory.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours when experimental needs require it.
• Effective communication skills working in a team atmosphere.
