The Cell Culture and Medium Development Group within Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD) is looking for a motivated person to lead projects for medium development. The Cell Culture & Medium Development (CCMD) group focuses on identifying the optimum combination of medium and feed, cell lines, and bioreactor scale-independent parameters at the benchtop scale for candidate, clinical, and commercial production processes. CCMD also develops new technology platforms and medium formulations for improved process productivity and quality. In this role, you will lead efforts to improve cell culture medium to support the extensive Regeneron clinical pipeline. The ability to lead medium development projects, manage a team, design experiments, statistically interpret results, and communicate findings is required.

We are looking for an engineer that will work collaboratively to develop novel approaches in the area of medium development.

A Typical Day in This Role Might Look Like:
  • Investigate novel approaches to improve media formulations
  • Develop predictive models of the bioreactor process that are used to predict improved medium formulations
  • Manage a team to design and implement cell culture studies in shaker flasks, ambr250, and bench scale bioreactors (50mL to 2-L scale)
  • Generate, manage, analyze, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other groups involved in the research process, including cell line development, bioreactor scale-up, purification, and manufacturing.
  • The position requires work on weekends and occasional travel to upstate NY

This role requires a BS or MS in Chemical Engineering or Bio-related Engineering with 8+ years of experience in a laboratory or data analytics setting, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and record keeping abilities to accurately record, analyze, and document development data generated are preferred. Candidates with experience in related fields are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional Skills (preferred, but not required) - Ph.D. or prior industry experience strongly preferred. Experience with mammalian cell culture, JMP, R, and Python also preferred.
