How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

Intellia is searching for a Head of Software Engineering to lead the design and implementation of software engineering tools and capabilities that will support the development of genome editing-based therapeutics. In this essential role, you will lead a team of software engineers working cross-functionally to support research and development programs. This is a highly visible leadership position interacting across R&D.

  • Lead the development of software solutions to support a genomics focused organization including data management, pipeline support, sample tracking, inventory management, and high throughput process optimization

  • Manage, lead, and mentor a team of talented/motivated software engineers

  • Implement vision and strategy to mature current database and LIMs systems for data capture and sample tracking and storage to support research and development programs

  • Partner with computational sciences to implement data management solutions, visualization tools, and pipeline implementation

  • Partner with IT to ensure data security and alignment of systems across the organization

  • Partner with NGS production and automation to implement workflow analysis and sample tracking as well as compound management and workflow visualization tools.

  • Build software solutions to enable sustainable growth and maintenance to support a clinically development-focused organization

  • Evaluate and leverage consultants to implement software solutions as needed

  • Implement processes for data and pipeline transfer across research and development as well as with external partnerships

  • Implement data integrity and validation review processes

  • Partner with research and tech ops leads to assess software engineering needs across all functions

  • Prioritize requests and implement work plans to outline project expectations, assess resource needs, and ensure accountability both within the team and with stakeholders

About You:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with at least 15 years of software development experience

  • Proficient in cloud-computing environments, preferably Amazon Web Service

  • Experience leading and implementing software solutions in support of NGS data in research, development, and clinical setting

Meet your future team:

You will lead a critical core function of talented, innovative, passionate software engineers partnering with genomics, screening, software engineering, computational biology and automation to build custom solutions for data interpretation, visualization, and innovation. We are accountable for enabling our programs in early research to reach development candidate nomination through regulatory filing and into clinical trials as well as support our internal platform optimization efforts in both the in vivo and cell therapy space.

In this key leadership role, you will report directly to the Senior Director, AEGIS (Automation, Engineering, Genomics, Informatics, and Screening), who instills a culture of teamwork, respect, inclusion, collaboration, and communication ensuring that each team member strives to reach their professional and personal potential.
