What You Will Achieve

Analyzes complex data to assist in operational improvements at an API wide level. Participate in budget process by developing and analyzing capacity models that feed both annual budget and long range forecasting processes. Gather and analyze process robustness data from various processes to develop process improvement ideas. Lead and/or participate on Six Sigma driven investigations and improvement projects.

Interacts with shop floor colleagues, and office personnel including Team Leaders, Quality Operations personnel, Plant engineers, and unit management. Interacts as needed with Maintenance, EHS, Supply Chain, QA and others. Regularly represents that unit on various API wide teams. Occasionally may represent the unit on Site Wide teams. Will provide coaching to API site colleagues on Operational Excellence objectives (ex. IMEx principles). May lead and/or participate on complex Six Sigma investigations within API and across the site.

How You Will Achieve It

Functional/Technical Knowledge: Apply extensive industry, functional and Pfizer-specific principles, theories, concepts and practices to improve unit and site operations. Have full knowledge of the requirements of other related disciplines. Demonstrate skills in leading, planning, and developing successful business processes/business units. Strong data analysis skill are required.

Problem Solving and Innovation: Develop and apply solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity, innovation, and creativity on a unit level. Contribute to improving site level operations. Able to gather, analyze, interpret, relate and compare information from multiple sources and identify cause and effect relationships. Ensure solutions are consistent with organizational objectives. Able to adapt and respond positively to a variety of situations and people in order to meet changing departmental priorities. Operate within established HR policies and guidelines. Focus on improving operations.

Discretion, Latitude, Level of Independence: Work is performed with minimal direction. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective for desired results. Assist in developing and supporting policies & procedures that affect colleagues. Recommend changes to operating policies.

Impact and Organizational Contribution: Guide the successful completion of major programs and may be in a team or project leadership role. Contribute to achievement of team, plant and/or global goals. Ensure that projects and tasks are completed on schedule. Lead and motivate others, generating commitment and a shared sense of purpose. Empower others to contribute their best.

Teamwork/Influence: Represent the organization as the contact on projects. Interact with internal and/or external personnel on matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Contact internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases of projects or contracts. Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific operations. Active involvement in daily operations. Represent the department on specific intra-Pfizer projects. Assist in training less experienced team members.

Time Span of Work: Projects and tasks covering short-term (3 to 6 months) to mid-term (12 to 18 months) deliverables; Work measured at milestones.

Scope of Work: This position directly supports API leadership team.


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Education / Experience: 5+ years of related experience and BS / MS Engineering, Science, Finance, Business or related field

  • Experience in collaborative working and problem-solving is essential

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver improvements to site performance with the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools

  • Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills with ability to make timely decisions

  • Change Agile, with willingness to learn and be challenged

Nice-to-Have

  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience, preferably with exposure to API manufacturing

  • Understanding of regulatory standard and guidance documents as well as evolving cGMPS impact pharmaceutical production

Physical/Mental Requirements

Primarily office environment with time in the manufacturing environment, as needed. Manufacturing environment includes equipment with moving parts.

May require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, stair climbing and roof access. Must be available to support 24/7 – 365 operation.

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements

Role supports a 24 hour production environment. Primary responsibilities occur M-F during normal working hours. Some off hour and holiday coverage may be required.
