Research Associate - Shipman Lab
The Shipman Lab at the Gladstone Institutes is seeking an enthusiastic Research Associate to join our team. We develop molecular biotechnology to overcome challenges in the understanding and treatment of human disease. Ongoing projects include therapeutic and multiplexed genome engineering, biological event recording into DNA, and mitochondrial transplantation.
The Research Associate in this position will contribute to projects that use biochemistry/molecular biology (cloning, RNA in vitro transcription, and protein expression/purification), cell culture (cell lines, human stem cells, transfection, virus production), structural biology, and bioinformatics. They will also assist in general upkeep of the laboratory such as ordering and organization of supplies and reagents and keeping equipment in operation. The Research Associate will be a full member of the scientific community in the lab, with the expectation that they will develop independent experiments and report results in publications. This would be an excellent opportunity for any candidate who wishes to pursue graduate school in the future.

Undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
1+ years wet lab experience (in addition to lab coursework), preferred
Excellent teamwork, organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Prior experience with mammalian cell culture, bioinformatics, RNA biology, or protein purification ideal
