Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role the Executive Director will be a key strategic partner in prioritizing and coordinating cross-functional activities for drug targets in Immuno-Oncology, Inflammation, and Cardiometabolic Disorders therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

• Build and supervise a group conducting discovery biomarker research across all therapeutic areas

• Support the group in interactions with the therapeutic area biology teams, computational biology, clinical biomarkers, and clinical development to identify the most promising biomarkers for drug targets

• Partner closely with colleagues across diverse Amgen functions, including deCODE Genetics, Global Development, Therapeutic Development, Global Regulatory Affairs, Value and Access, and Global Commercial Organization

• Discover and prioritize disease stratification and target engagement biomarker candidates for multiple pipeline projects

• Generate and transition key pharmacodynamic and patient stratification biomarker discovery data to support clinical biomarker assay development

• Experience in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, human genetics, integrated human physiology, and knowledge of the principles of biomarker identification are particularly encouraged to apply

• Participate in prominent external-facing efforts in Amgen Research and Development that include external speaking engagements, collaborations with academic institutions, and business development

Basic Qualifications

• Doctorate degree & 6 years of academic or industry experience in Immunology-Oncology, Inflammation, or Cardiometabolic disorders, or combinations thereof, and experience in biomarker identification

• Masters degree & 10 years of academic or industry experience in Immunology-Oncology, Inflammation, or Cardiometabolic disorders, or combinations thereof, and experience in biomarker identification

• Bachelors degree & 12 years of academic or industry experience Immunology-Oncology, Inflammation, or Cardiometabolic disorders, or combinations thereof, and experience in biomarker identification

• 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

• Extensive discovery biology leadership experience in either academia or the private sector

• Physician who can lead the Biomarkers strategy from discovery through commercialization

• Discovery scientist who is versatile, and agile learner and experienced team leader
