Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs - Portfolio Communications

What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will report to the Executive Director of Portfolio Communications. This senior manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of a portfolio narrative and communications strategy that drives broader awareness of Amgen and its key therapeutic areas to key partners in the US and in priority markets. This role will also be responsible for supporting internal communications and engagement for US business operations (USBO) to ensure staff are aligned to and understand the USBO vision, business priorities, and operating framework in order to effectively serve patients and customers in dynamic healthcare environment.

This position can sit remotely, and does not need to be located in Thousand Oaks, CA.

  • Manage the external engagement/thought leadership strategy and activation across internal and external channels
  • Create multimedia content to be leveraged for external communications around business priorities and reputation drivers
  • Lead internal communications for USBO and support priority Global Commercial Organization (GCO) initiatives through communications
  • Partner with GCO Digital team to ensure senior leaders have digital engagement strategy and measurement tools in place to track success of personal channels
  • Partner with GCO capabilities team to ensure pull through strategy and content where relevant to the countries.
  • Aligns USBO with Regions - Europe, Latin America, the Middle East/Africa and Canada (ELMAC), as well as, Japan, Asia Pacific, Australia and China (JAPAC) on the cascade of key business and product milestones
  • Supports and liaises with Enterprise team on paid and earned media strategy for external thought leadership, ensures amplification on social channels
  • Supports the development of plans outlining key touch points and training around narrative and messages for the GM development program
  • Tracks and measures impact of narrative and external engagement opportunities

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Masters degree and 4 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 6 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

Associates degree and 10 years of Corporate Affairs experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Corporate Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing, and delivering communications strategies and plans in a complex organization.
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams and individuals to achieve goals
  • Ability to operate effectively on large cross-functional teams, as well as lead by influence and collaborate.
  • Experience in social and digital media, media relations and issues management.
  • Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience improving brand reputation to a variety of internal and external partners
  • Experience in creating and translating scientific / technical content for a broad range of audiences
