Amgen is searching for a Sr Associate in our Strategic Planning and Ops Combination Product Operations (CPO) team. This role will be based in Thousand Oaks, CA and will report to the Sr. Manager, Strategic Planning and Operations team in CPO.

The Sr Associate will work within a cross-functional organization to manage program standards and ensuring accurate reporting in the Resource Capacity Program Management tool (RCPM). The Sr Associate is responsible for overall coordination and status reporting of project resources and capacity work efforts. Is able to scope out project resource needs based on input from user groups and/or partners. Responsible for assembling resource capacity plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts daily, identifying resource needs and raising functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately. Responsible for supervising key project achievements and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers. Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise that impact the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort being managed. Must possess advanced knowledge and proficiency in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource and capacity management practices and techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with technical teams in creating project schedules aligned with company priorities.

  • Work with functional teams on an ongoing basis to update resource and capacity management standards

  • Support update of resource standards and models

  • Coordinate project knowledge and communication management via MS Teams collaboration hub

  • Assist in driving decision making using DAI principles (D- Decision maker, A- Advice Giver, I- Informed)

  • Ensure participation in functional and cross functional management reviews

  • Establish and manage collaboration and team SharePoint sites (e.g. My Teams)

  • Manage and prioritize support of multiple project teams at one time

  • Documentation (development of meeting agenda and minutes), and outcomes communication

  • Track delivery and create repositories for all key results

  • Facilitate and incorporate lessons learned, standard methodologies, etc.

  • Drive continuous improvement in all systems and work flow

  • Strives for excellence in all areas of work

Master's degree

Or

Bachelors degree and 2 years of project management experience

Or

Associates degree and 6 years of project management experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years project/capacity management experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or other Healthcare-related field

  • Experience in an environment requiring one to foster collaboration and work effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interface across all levels of the organization

  • Experience applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve results

  • Experience applying standard Project Management tools and practices

  • Experience with MS Project, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision
