ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Santen Project Management organization provides critical operational support to drive development of a highly specialized, global ophthalmology portfolio. The Project Management organization is focused on aligning day-to-day delivery with Santen’s organizational objective of developing products that satisfy medical needs, bringing hope to patients and their loved ones.

As a Project Manager (PM) in Santen’s Project Management organization you will lead global cross-functional teams responsible for planning and executing development of high-quality products to bring to patients. You will report directly to the Lead Project Manager (Lead PM) and/ or Head of Project Management. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across research and development functions to facilitate information sharing and monitor development progress (timelines and costs) and quality. Our PMs are critical and innovative thinkers who motivate cross-functional teams to maximize value to the organization and to the patient.

As a PM in Santen’s Project Management organization, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that is committed to meeting the global needs of patients, bringing innovative ophthalmology therapies to protect the world’s vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Lead operational project execution, i.e. Develop and manage integrated, cross-functional project timelines and budgets
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, coordinating information sharing, preparation of materials for leadership updates and decision making
  • Drive positive team behaviors by encouraging participation in cross-functional discussions and sharing in successes and challenges
  • Identify, escalate, and manage resolution of risks and issues related to project quality and delivery
  • Act as the Point of Contact for project inquiries and facilitate cross-functional information sharing as needed
  • Incorporate Project Management best practices to stay current with developments in the pharmaceutical industry

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication, and the ability to develop and deliver effective presentations
  • Strategic and analytical thinking skills; ability to review and interpret information to drive informed decision making
  • Strong leadership skills that consider global nuances and needs of geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and manage teams across multiple projects, and be flexible to changes in direction
  • Resolve conflicts in a positive and collaborative manner
  • Effectively a negotiate with and influence key stakeholders to achieve team goals
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of drug development and project management processes
  • BA/BS degree in life sciences required
  • MS or MBA in scientific discipline is preferred
  • PMP certification is preferred
  • Experience in pharma / biotech or healthcare industry and PPM required
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years leading or managing cross-functional project teams
  • Familiar with regulatory approval of medications in North America, Europe or Asia
