Mammoth is seeking a Scientist I with expertise in bioinformatics to join its Diagnostics team. This role will focus on designing new diagnostic assays using our DETECTR™ technology.

The successful candidate will contribute towards Mammoth’s efforts to develop innovative diagnostic products that enable consumers to access their health information in a timely manner. The Scientist I, Bioinformatics will work closely with both the research and development teams on a variety of projects including primer and gRNA design.
  • Collaborate with Assay Development group to design new CRISPR diagnostic assays
  • Develop, maintain, and operate pipelines for assay design, data mining, and analysis
  • Develop heuristic rules, optimization, and algorithms to improve design and analysis pipelines
  • Analyze sequence data and mine public databases for sequence content to predict assay performance across viral diversity
  • Identify and implement new technologies to enable the success of research teams
  • Work with bioinformaticians, data scientists, and data engineers to deliver on project goals
  • Prepare data and content for presentations, white papers, or other company-relevant materials

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • PhD or 5 years of industry experience
  • Proficiency with Python, R, SQL and tools/libraries for data analysis (jupyter, pandas, plotting libraries)
  • Experience working with Linux command line and version control tools (git and github)
  • Extensive experience in bioinformatics tools for sequence retrieval from genome databases, DNA/RNA sequence analysis, and primer design

  • Understanding of multiplex primer design requirements for PCR and isothermal assays
  • Experience with analyzing viral diversity (e.g. SARS-CoV-2)
  • Experience working and developing bioinformatics production systems
  • Experience working in cloud environments (i.e AWS)
  • Familiarity with CRISPR-Cas literature
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and mathematical models in the interpretation of biological data
  • Experience working on the development of diagnostic assays (510(k), CE-IVD)
  • Strong communication, data visualization, and organization skills
