Overview:

This position will be responsible for driving critical execution objectives for Coherus across various functions including business development and strategic planning. This position will partner with other key functional areas to ensure success in executing corporate development initiatives; including sourcing, evaluation and negotiation of licensing opportunities.

The position requires excellent communication and leadership skills in addition to a strong technical understanding of the inter-disciplinary nature of commercializing healthcare products. 


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of Coherus’ corporate strategy, and define business development strategic goals;
  • Identify inbound and outbound business development opportunities in alignment with Coherus’ strategic goals;
  • Develop, and nurture scientific and business relationships within bio-pharmaceutical companies, academia, and scientific advisors;
  • Coordinate diligence efforts including scientific reviews and commercial assessments;
    • Conduct/manage primary and secondary market research as part of evaluating new product development opportunities;
    • Generate revenue forecasts working with commercial, P&L models, and NPV analyses;
    • Lead and manage cross-functional interactions with Clinical, Non-Clinical, Commercial, Regulatory, Finance, IP, and Manufacturing, to conduct detailed evaluation process and prioritize and execute on transactions;
  • Structure and negotiate term sheets and agreements, in partnership with senior management as well as internal and externalcounsel;
  • Support portfolio planning process by estimating market opportunities, identifying competitor threats and recommending portfolio changes;
  • Lead the development of target product profiles for corporate development projects, based on thorough understanding of market dynamics and potential future trends;
  • Support the CEO/CFO in negotiations with investor groups to raise capital and develop long-term financing strategy, and well as in investor relations, corporate communications and government affairs initiatives;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as, US healthcare laws and regulations;
  • Build, manage and develop corporate development team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree required, Life or Physical Sciences discipline preferred; advanced degree and/or commensurate experience;
  • MBA or equivalent business/financial experience preferred;
  • A minimum of 10 years of direct business development experience in addition to functional area experience in a Pharmaceutical or Biotech company, management consulting or Banking;
  • Oncology experience preferred;
  • Established record of successful transactions and an extensive network of industry contacts;
  • Experience negotiating and executing transaction, both as licensor and licensee;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Biopharma industry, in both large and small companies;
  • Highly proficient at strategizing, planning, scheduling, monitoring and tracking and problem solving;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Applies critical /strategic thinking to unstructured situations;
  • Successful experience in fast paced, entrepreneurial environment;
  • Fit with Coherus culture and core values.
