Spvr Research Animal Facility

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Vivarium Supervisor to join our dynamic, fast paced team.  You will be working on a team that manages a Vivarium supporting our research efforts while maintaining the highest quality of animal care. 

In this role, a typical day may include:

• Oversees daily operations of a conventional Research Vivarium space and Cage Wash space

• Mentors’ direct reports as well as research staff on specific projects

• Provides support to Sr. Management on research and Vivarium projects while collaborating with facilities, research staff and outside contractors.

• Participates in vivarium walk throughs with Sr. Management, Managers, Associate Managers on a regular basis to ensure program compliance and conducts regular inspections

• Takes part in facility inspections (IACUC, AAALACi, USDA, NYSDOH, etc.)

• Liaison between internal teams such as vivarium operations, research staff, facilities, etc, with good written/oral communication skills

• Recruit new staff, mentors and builds up teams, performs annual reviews of direct reports with input on indirect reports

To be considered for this role you must have a Bachelor of Science degree in the biological sciences or veterinary technology, and a minimum of 4 years of experience in laboratory animal science and technology required.  AALAS certification at the LAT level is required.  Pursuit of the CMAR certification by AALAS is desirable. You should have knowledge of applicable regulations regarding the proper standards of animal care and use in a research environment, esp. substantial understanding of “The Guide”.
