Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Genome Engineering Technologies group, which addresses a wide range of experimental topics, including genome editing, vector engineering and stem cell differentiation. We are seeking candidates with experience in synthetic biology that have focused on developing genetic circuits, such as inducible and logic gated circuits or reporters for cellular signaling events. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in eukaryotic systems. In addition to supporting ongoing projects, the scientist will be expected to initiate new avenues of research.

As a Scientist in Genome Engineering Technologies, a typical day may include the following:

-  Develop genetic circuits that respond to small molecules

-  Apply these circuits to transgenic mice or differentiated human ES and iPS cells

-  Design and execute experiments according to established protocols.

-  Maintain clear records of experimental details in a laboratory notebook.

-  Communicate experimental results, conclusions and ideas directly to supervisors, project team members, and management in presentation form.

This role may be for you if:

-  You are collaborative and demonstrate strong intellectual curiosity, scientific independence, and a desire to develop new technologies or therapeutics

-  You have a positive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute in a goal-oriented team

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD in systems biology, molecular biology, or related field and 3+ years of experience. Experienced in genetic circuit design and testing, eukaryotic cell culture techniques, and molecular cloning. Enjoys bench science and should be able to work independently with minimal supervision. A track record of independent scientific achievement and problem solving as demonstrated through publications. Occasional weekend and/or evening hours required.
