We are looking for an Associate Manager to join our Research Program Management team to provide operational guidance and drive key deliverables for an external research collaboration focused on vaccine therapeutics in the cancer and infectious diseases space. This individual will merge their scientific expertise in vaccines, immunology, cancer biology, and/or immunomodulation with program management knowledge and experience in the pharmaceutical industry to support the coordination, execution, and communication of critical cross-functional activities required to drive the Regeneron-Nykode Therapeutics collaboration. The Associate Manager will coordinate and nurture productive relationships with internal and external teams while driving cross-functional teams to support external collaboration project activities and communicate key collaborative milestones.

In this role, a typical day may include: 


Project, Program, Portfolio Management


-  Independently executes management of projects and tasks with some guidance and awareness of internal and external interdependencies

-  Identify and work to champion resolution of critical gaps, risks, or issues, as related to assigned programs, projects, and tasks

-  Facilitates the development and maintenance of research plans for external collaborations and ensures alignment across functional areas and senior management

-  Maintains knowledge of critical data and milestones for assigned projects / programs

-  Tracks programs and promotes a collaborative scientific information exchange internally and externally by leading and updating tracking tools and program content


Communication and Team Management


-  Primary point of contact for management regarding progress of project / program goals, ensures effective, accurate and timely program-related communication across functional areas and with external collaborators

-  Distills sophisticated information, identifying the most pertinent elements and tailoring communications based on audience

-  Corresponds with external partners to develop research plans, identify knowledge gaps, address challenges, and communicate progress

-  Builds cross-functional teams and leads internal/external collaboration deliverables in a matrix organization


Discovery and Technology Discovery & Development


-  Identifies and understands key data/information required to drive decision through discovery and drug development process

-  Can provide guidance and/or scientific/technical mentorship to project teams and/or other fellow team members for their assigned programs


Process Management and Improvement


-  Independently analyzes and identifies areas of minimal complexity for process improvement 

-  With guidance, leads and gains alignment on process improvement solutions, informed by knowledge of technical/scientific challenges faced by the project teams


System and Tools Management


-  Develops technical expertise in existing systems and tools required to support tasks, projects, and programs relevant to external research collaborations.

-  Manages an existing system and/or tool, for maintenance and troubleshooting.

-  Gains alignment and can help to lead the development and implementation of new systems and tools to support new or existing initiative. 

This role may be for you if:

-  You can effectively work with external collaborators and internal cross-functionally teams in a matrix organization to support high-level research operation plans

-  You have an excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members with tact and diplomacy

-  You regularly interact with senior management and/or executive level personnel on matters concerning several functional areas

- You proactively identify potential issues and implement mitigation strategies for general problem-solving within the department

To be considered for this role, you should have a BS in a related field and 7+ years relevant experience or a PhD and 2+ years of post-graduate proven experience, preferably with immunology, cancer biology, and/or vaccine development experience. We are looking for someone with basic knowledge of project management techniques and concepts as they apply to the drug development / pharmaceutical industry. You should be able to handle multiple projects and priorities with excellent time management skills. Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. required.
