As a Senior Data Engineer in IT, you’ll work collaboratively with stakeholders across GRAIL to understand the enterprise-wide needs for data collection, analysis, reporting and application. We will look to you to drive implementation of an enterprise wide data analytics stack including a data warehouse and data lake for data aggregation, ETL and an overall platform stack, resulting in delivery of key insights and optimizations to our most important enterprise workflows. We are looking for someone who can think strategically and also hands on with a consistent track record building a data ecosystem that delivers compelling business value in a rapidly growing environment.

You will:
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the enterprise to understand the most compelling business needs for GRAIL’s data analytics platform.
  • Build scalable, highly performant infrastructure for delivering clear business insights from a variety of raw data sources
  • Implement and simplify self-service data and analysis capabilities of the BI platform.
  • Design a data quality framework around the datasets.
  • Implement best practices around data engineering for the team. (CI/CD, Code Review)
  • Work collaboratively to build out that roadmap in 2022 as GRAIL scales commercially.


Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of directly related data engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
  • 5 + years of experience with Python and SQL.
  • 3 + years of experience with Data Modeling and ETL design.
  • Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, and Workday as data sources and consuming data from SaaS application APIs.
  • Experience building and optimizing an enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, DBT)
  • Working experience with Airflow or Step Functions.
  • Experience with different modern data integration tools. (Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch)
  • Demonstrated positive collaboration skills with key stakeholders and system users to deliver robust systems and compelling results.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Desired Experience:
  • Experience with AWS (e.g. Athena, Redshift, Quicksight, Lake Formation, AWS Glue, S3, EMR, Lambda, SNS, SQS, DMS, Fargate, ECS), Snowflake, Tableau, Denodo, DBT, Fivetran
  • Experience with serverless architecture and Terraform. 
  • Life sciences / Biotech sector experience in a regulated environment GxP, FDA, ISO 13485, etc.
