Role Overview

Everest Detection is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to help us achieve our mission. As a Research Associate you will work closely with scientists to support biomarker discovery and assay development. A successful candidate will be eager to learn new molecular biology techniques and work towards independently designing and executing crucial experiments. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with scientists to design, analyze, and troubleshoot molecular biology based experiments 
  • Maintain a detailed and accurate record of all experimental procedures and results in an electronic notebook
  • Contribute to evaluation and development of novel molecular platforms and assays
  • Meticulously maintain sample inventory 
  • Procure lab materials, reagents, and equipment
  • Maintain lab equipment, including coordinating preventative maintenance with technicians and scheduling service when needed
  • Collaborate with contract research organizations (CROs) to coordinate sample shipment and project timelines 



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology or related field; 1 year of hands on experience in a laboratory setting
  • Previous training in molecular biology techniques: isolating nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) from cells, plasma, and/or extracellular vesicles; running PCR and/or qRT-PCR; construction of next generation sequencing libraries
  • Ability to organize, document, and communicate scientific data with guidance from scientists
  • Eagerness to grow and be successful in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and contribute to a multitude of experiments with varying timelines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous lab experience working in industry 
  • Familiarity using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Experience using molecular biology data analysis and visualization tools (Python, R, IGV)
  • Understand the biology of cell-free nucleic acids and their application for early cancer detection in a liquid biopsy
