The Associate Director Corporate Communications will spearhead the company’s clinical trial recruitment communications for clinical programs of high importance to Regeneron. This role will be responsible for establishing thought-leadership platforms to increase visibility of our innovation in clinical trials and the role of key executives. You will partner closely with stakeholders across the Global Development and Patient Advocacy organizations to develop and execute select clinical trial site communications and participant recruitment initiatives and to expand the company’s digital/social clinical trials presence. 

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the biopharma industry. This individual should have exceptional communications experience and a strong understanding of the clinical trial process, with experience navigating urgent, time sensitive projects and creating content that clearly communicates complex information. They should be confident leading multiple strategies in tandem with other subject matter experts and leaders.

The successful candidate will join a high-performing Corporate Communications & Citizenship (CC&C) team, which thinks strategically and executes at a high level to support our fast-growing company and unique culture – where colleagues are passionate about science and our mission to bring important new medicines to patients in need. The team is focused on developing strategies and programs in four key areas: 1) building a strong corporate reputation for Regeneron, 2) sustaining culture and driving engagement through employee communications, and 3) entrenching corporate citizenship as core to Regeneron’s identity – all while 4) building understanding and support for our company, pipeline and science.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish thought-leadership platforms to increase visibility of our innovation in the clinical trials space; develop and execute digital and traditional media strategies to elevate the company’s external visibility in the space 
  • Lead key milestones and trial-related communications to sites and participants in partnership with team leads from Global Trial Optimization, Patient Advocacy and Corporate Communications; expand the company’s digital/social clinical trials presence
  • Identify patient and participant insights to develop relevant communications strategies and clear messaging to support clinical trial recruitment objectives
  • Develop and execute communications to support novel enrollment strategies in partnership with team leads from Development Innovation and Global Trial Optimization 
  • Write and develop complex, strategic patient recruitment and retention communications and media materials, as well as other deliverables for use on Regeneron-supported channels (e.g., plans, press materials, patient and site communications, paid media)
  • Lead proactive and reactive media communications for select clinical trials; media train internal spokespeople and external clinical investigator spokespeople and prepare for media interviews
  • Measure and analyze effectiveness of communications approaches; lead the implementation of strategic or tactical changes to improve outcomes
  • Codify best practices and develop resources and tools for trial teams to apply across our clinical portfolio
  • Partner with Regeneron’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in Clinical Trials task force, Global Trial Optimization team and Director of DEI Sciences, as needed to communicate efforts to a variety of audiences 
  • Stay on top of trends in industry, media, consumer marketing and employee engagement to help educate our audiences and advance our work
  • Manage and foster productive agency relationships and manage integration among multiple vendors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of proven excellence in strategic communications and planning; prior experience in communicating clinical trial results to external stakeholders (i.e., media) is preferred.
  • Deep experience in developing messaging and audience engagement strategies
  • Strong understanding of the clinical development landscape and clinical trial process; experience with drug development promotion
  • Excellent writer, editor and storyteller with the ability to translate complex scientific information for a wide variety of audiences
  • Knowledge and direct experience developing integrated digital and mobile communications strategies, storytelling and content creation; experience working with various digital media and formats
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-growing company and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented; strong organizational, prioritization and project management skills
  • Confidence to share new ideas and ways of working; strong influencer and relationship-builder; high level of professionalism to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, including senior leaders, functional managers, medical directors, scientists and the general employee population
  • Passion for science and patient impact; relentlessly curious with a desire to learn
