Are you a highly technical senior level scientist with extensive NGS experience in the biotech or biopharma industry?

GRAIL is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior or Staff Scientist for the Technology Development team to lead the development, optimization, and validation of assay workflows for early cancer detection. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated technical leadership in the development of methods, analysis, and pipelines applied to next-generation sequencing data. Experience developing products or lab tests from concept to launch is highly desirable.  GRAIL is a mission-driven company with ambitions that can only be achieved through collaboration and teamwork. YOU WILL:
  • Apply knowledge of cancer biology and advanced analytical methods to generate new biological insights and product concepts
  • Plan and lead execution of internal assay development and/or validation activities as well as collaborative research with GRAIL’s academic and industry partners
  • Prototype, optimize, and implement new laboratory techniques and analysis methods to advance NGS-based molecular detection of cancer signals
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to implement and optimize assay workflows and processes on semi- or fully-automated robotic platforms
  • Summarize, present and document study outcomes for key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with various functions including bioinformatics, data science, biostatistics, clinical development, quality, and clinical operations to design studies and analyze results that promote development of superior cancer detection products
  • Mentor and guide junior scientists and research associates
  • Generate new ideas that contribute to GRAIL’s IP portfolio


YOUR BACKGROUND SHOULD INCLUDE:
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology or relevant discipline
  • 3+ years of work experience in the Life Sciences of Diagnostics industry
  • 2+ years experience with NGS and/or circulating nucleic acid-based tests 
  • Deep understanding of molecular biology and biochemical techniques relevant to assay development
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with statistical programming or software (e.g., R)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
