Job Summary

Avidity is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Research Associate to join our Discovery Biology team who can assist with ongoing studies that aim to expand our AOC platform. This is a hands-on research position, and a successful candidate will have a proven record of producing exceptional results in a laboratory setting. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform experimental assays in support of Avidity’s AOC platform expansion programs
  • Execute detailed protocols and techniques necessary for several molecular and cellular biology assays
  • Source, maintain, and manipulate mammalian cells in culture
  • Adapt protocols and techniques to high-throughput assays in 96- & 384-well plate-based formats
  • Collaborate with other members of the Discovery Biology team as well as other teams throughout Avidity to deliver on corporate goals
  • Analyze data and interpret results into a professional, presentable format
  • Document procedures and results in an electronic lab notebook
Qualifications
  • A B.S./B.A. degree in the biological sciences with 1-2 years of relevant wet lab experience, preferably in an industry setting
  • Proficient in techniques critical for molecular and cellular biology experiments, including RNA isolation, quantitative PCR, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting
  • Proficient with mammalian cell culture, including caring for and passaging immortalized cell lines and siRNA transfections. Experience with isolating and culturing primary cells and maintaining/ differentiating stem cell lines is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong skills in aseptic techniques as well as proper handling of chemotherapeutics and protein biologics
  • Proficient computer and data analysis skills specifically with Microsoft Office Suite and GraphPad Prism
  • Enthusiastic attitude to work independently and in a project team-oriented environment

Physical Requirements/Demands

  • Repeating motions that may include the fingers, wrists, hands and/or legs
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
