Job Details
The New Product Strategy & Assessment Lead will help drive the company’s commercial strategy for future growth of Zai’s pipeline in collaboration with R&D and Business Development (BD). Core responsibilities will include providing strategic guidance and commercial assessments for Zai’s products from preclinical to proof-of-concept stages of development, internal portfolio valuation, and evaluation of external BD opportunities. Success will require the individual to develop strong cross functional relationships in a multicultural environment, and to provide strategic commercial leadership within a rapidly evolving organization in a high paced environment.
- Provide commercial input and strategic guidance to R&D including multiple programs in preclinical and Phase-1/2 clinical development stages.
- Evaluate new business development opportunities and assess market potential and competitive landscape. Develop revenue forecast models and support risk adjusted NPV analysis behind potential BD transactions.
- Conduct primary and secondary market research to understand market landscape, patient segmentation, patient journey, competitive intelligence, key competitors’ strategy and activities, and customers’ needs.
- Help establish target product profiles, and determine appropriate product positioning and strategic fit. Identify value-drivers and provide evidence-based rationales for strategic commercial decisions.
- Provide strategic and analytical support to assess and prioritize pipeline programs.
- As needed, assess pricing and reimbursement, or diagnostic development needs.
- Provide analysis and input to colleagues during regular financial planning, corporate development, and strategic planning cycles.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate-level degree in life-sciences/medicine, or an MBA, is a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in either new product planning, or consulting, pipeline strategy, primary/secondary market research, and/or portfolio management.
- Disease-area knowledge/experience within Oncology is required.
- Excellent communication and strong analytical skills to understand scientific/medical and financial data, to recognize key business issues, and to effectively present analysis and strategic recommendations.
- Highly skilled in leading teams in cross-functional matrix environments including interfacing with key internal and external groups in different regions and with scientific and commercial groups in different countries.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency. Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
