Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join the Systems Development Group.  As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be integral to bringing together various technologies including chemistry, informatics, thermal and fluidics, mechanical, electrical and software design as Waters works towards innovation and development of our next-generation flagship systems.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for system design and definition at a technical level while working with key stakeholders to ensure that the system meets that definition. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Teaming up with product owners in developing a user requirements document.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Software teams to generate a System design/architecture to ensure various sub-systems work together and having accountability for managing interfaces between various sub-systems.
  • Collaborating with SMEs and EE/ME/Software in generating an understanding of system functionalities to meet user requirements.
  • Modelling portions of the system (MBSE) to compliment requirements and system architecture.
  • Creating system verification documents to provide test evidence that System design requirements have been met.
  • Effectively using MBSE, JIRA, Confluence and other Agile and Systems tools. Mentoring Engineering team members in these tools when applicable.
  • Contributing to design reviews, phase reviews, System cost model, and other project related activity as appropriate.

Qualifications

We would love to hear from you if you have:

 

Experience / Skills:

  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Proven track record of problem solving in a multi-disciplinary engineering team environment.
  • Ability to understand high level software and electro-mechanical architecture.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with requirement decomposition, procedures and physical resources needed to verify sub-assemblies in system environments.
  • Diagnostic abilities to determine root causes and provide fault data.
  • Experience in the development of scientific or analytical instrumentation/products containing fluids under pressure, optics, vacuum, precision mechanics, electronics, and firmware/software.
  • Ability to work in ad hoc project teams in different locations and time zones.
  • Experience in facilitating meetings and presenting information.
  • MBSE, JIRA, and Confluence experience preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.
  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering preferred.
