Job Details

The Role:

They will not be directly involved in the animal work but will perform the downstream analysis. This will give the co-op the opportunity to learn a variety of ex vivo analysis techniques such as qPCR, western blot analysis as well as ELISAs, and expand their knowledge on innate immunity and Moderna's LNP formulations. They will also learn how to analyze and represent data in the most appropriate way and may also learn analysis of more complex datasets using R studio.

Our co-op program dates are from July 11 – December 16, 2022. Candidates must be available for the entire duration of the program.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze protein expression in tissues and serum using western blot and ELISA technology

  • Faithfully document results, analyze and present datasets of low to moderate complexity

  • Be actively involved in study planning and scientific discussions about the direction of the project

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • The successful candidate should be enrolled in a BS/BA program in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a similar field with anticipated graduation in 2023 or 2024

  • The candidate should have general experience in standard laboratory techniques

  • Experience in immunology, innate immunity or gene therapy is preferred but not a requirement

  • The successful candidate should be curious and enthusiastic to learn new skills and technologies

  • They should be a collaborative team player who wants to be part of a rapidly growing team of highly motivated scientists

About Moderna

In over 10 years since its inception, Moderna has transformed from a research-stage company advancing programs in the field of messenger RNA (mRNA), to an enterprise with a diverse clinical portfolio of vaccines and therapeutics across seven modalities, a broad intellectual property portfolio in areas including mRNA and lipid nanoparticle formulation, and an integrated manufacturing plant that allows for rapid clinical and commercial production at scale. Moderna maintains alliances with a broad range of domestic and overseas government and commercial collaborators, which has allowed for the pursuit of both groundbreaking science and rapid scaling of manufacturing. Most recently, Moderna's capabilities have come together to allow the authorized use and approval of one of the earliest and most effective vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moderna's mRNA platform builds on continuous advances in basic and applied mRNA science, delivery technology and manufacturing, and has allowed the development of therapeutics and vaccines for infectious diseases, immuno-oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases and autoimmune diseases. Moderna has been named a top biopharmaceutical employer by Science for the past seven years. To learn more, visit www.modernatx.com.
