OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is seeking a Scientist II with expertise in bioinformatics to join its Diagnostics team. This role will be responsible for supporting the research and development teams across Diagnostics to develop and implement bioinformatic solutions.

The successful candidate will contribute towards Mammoth’s efforts to develop innovative diagnostic products that enable consumers to access their health information in a timely manner. The Scientist II, Bioinformatics will work closely with both the research and development teams on a variety of projects including diagnostic assay design, NGS pipeline development, and processing of imaging data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with Assay Development group to design new CRISPR diagnostic assays
  • Develop, maintain, and operate pipelines for assay design, data mining, and NGS analysis
  • Develop heuristic rules, optimizations, and algorithms 
  • Identify and implement new technologies to enable the success of research teams
  • Work with bioinformaticians, data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to deliver on project goals
  • Prepare data and content for presentations, white papers, or other company-relevant materials

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD and minimum of 1 year of industry experience
  • Proficiency with Python, R, SQL and tools/libraries for data analysis (jupyter, pandas, plotting libraries)
  • Experience working with Linux command line and version control tools (git and github)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of multiplex primer design requirements for PCR and isothermal assays
  • Experience with analyzing NGS data and pipeline development
  • Experience working and developing bioinformatics production systems
  • Experience working in cloud environments (i.e AWS)
  • Familiarity with CRISPR-Cas literature
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and mathematical models in the interpretation of biological data
  • Experience working on the development of diagnostic assays (510(k), CE-IVD)
  • Strong communication, data visualization, and organization skills
