Position Summary

 

Support of the BASi Research Products Quality Management System with a focus on incoming inspection, internal auditing, internal calibration, document control, and shipping/receiving process integrity.

 

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • General support of key quality management system components including calibration, internal audits, inspection, root cause analysis/corrective action, supplier quality management, and process improvement activities
  • Lead incoming parts/material inspection process by performing inspections, assisting with inspector training, and coordinating with engineering and production to address nonconformance
  • Process rejected material using established procedures to ensure minimized impact on costs, customer quality, and lead times
  • Serve as a liaison between production, engineering, and suppliers, with guidance from Quality and Operations Management, to ensure alignment of expectations, specifications, and tolerances
  • Conduct internal calibrations and assist with calibration plan record keeping
  • Conduct internal product and process audits as delegated by Quality/Operations Management
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding nonconforming parts/materials under direction of Quality/Operations management
  • Assist with administration of quality document control system including review for formatting, document approval and collaboration, submission for release
  • Assist with Shipping and Receiving processes as required
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • This position is subject to periodic changes in work assignments and priorities.

 

Requirements

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 3-5 years quality assurance experience; A.S. or B.S. preferred
  • Exposure to or experience with Lean /Six Sigma and/or other Quality Management methodologies
  • Equivalent combination of related education and required work experience will be considered

 

Skills & Abilities:

 

  • Ability to fit with and work in team atmosphere
  • Ability to distinguish color required
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to understand engineering blue prints and schematics
  • Understanding of quality management principles
  • Self-motivate with ability to work independently
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Experience using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills

 

 

Tools, Equipment & Other Resources Used

 

  • Various MS Office software applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Hand held precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Materials Resource Planning and Quality Document Control software

Working Conditions:

 

  • Normal manufacturing environment with varying temperatures
  • Tool and machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but no limited to; eye safety glasses.
  • The noise level is usually moderate
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment (includes, but not limited to cardboard, Styrofoam, plastic, etc.)
