Position: Assistant Scientist

Reporting To: Staff Scientist

Location: San Diego, CA

Position Objective

 

Nitto BioPharma, Inc., Nitto BioPharma, Inc., is a biopharmaceutical company focusing on discovery and development of novel RNA-based therapeutics for intractable diseases. Nitto BioPharma, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Scientist to join our oncology drug discovery research team. The successful candidate will be a critical team member primarily involved in executing pre-clinical molecular oncology studies to evaluate novel drug candidates and treatment modalities.

 

 

Responsibilities

· Perform cell culture and maintenance of cancer cell lines to be used to assess novel compounds.

· Execute in vitro assays including RT-PCR, ELISA, Toxicity, Western blot, RNA extraction and other biology techniques.

· Extract RNA from animal tissue for validation assays including efficacy and biodistribution.

· Execution of assays for data collection and achieve study package completion.

  • Have solid understanding of study protocols and implement/validate protocols.
  • Able to independently perform sample extractions, sample and/or data analysis with training and/or limited supervision.
  • Recognize unexpected problems and work with supervisor to solve.
  • Accurately and precisely record data and maintain study records in a timely fashion during study period.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors.

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

· B.Sc. with 7 to 9 years of experience or M.Sc. with 3 to 6 years of experience required in biology, engineering or related field.

· Strong background in biology, in vitro pharmacology, oncology or related science.

· Knowledge and proficient use of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential

· Excellent oral and written English communication skills are a must

· Expert Knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.

 

 

 

Physical Job Requirements:

 

Office/Lab environment. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
