About the role:

The Associate Director, Inclusion and Diversity is responsible for partnering on the design, development, and integration of targeted inclusion and diversity strategies that align to Gilead's overall, Inclusion & Diversity approach. The candidate will also facilitate key employee learning solutions, act as champion, and change agent for talent solutions and approaches to support development of a diverse workforce. The role will partner with members of the Talent, Development and Inclusion and the Talent Acquisition teams. The position reports to the Head of Inclusion & Diversity.

This role will collaborate on employee experience programs including professional development and retention programs aligned with I&D strategies and Gilead's culture journey. This person will manage initiatives including external professional development programs and bring rigor and best practices to Gilead. They will be excited by the proposition of evolving the diverse employee experience and driving behaviors that aligns with the company's core value of Inclusion. Success will involve building relationships with senior leaders, TDI Partners, HR business partners, Business Resource Groups, and bringing the I&D strategy to life across the enterprise.

The successful candidate will demonstrate subject matter expertise to become a trusted partner to business leadership and employees at all levels. This individual will need to operate in the demanding environment with a discerning intellectual agility and a strong results-oriented mindset. Committed to the engagement of employees across the enterprise and accountability of colleagues across different functions.

Specific Job Requirements:
  • Collaborate with I&D colleagues to design, manage, and execute I&D strategy and initiatives across the global enterprise.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on diverse employee experience related initiatives including professional development and retention.
  • Develop diversity initiatives based on a common I&D framework supporting Gilead's core values.
  • Collaborate with internal partners including Talent Acquisition team members to assess and strengthen diverse and inclusive talent pipelines.
  • Support Business Partners in executing I&D strategies across regions and business functions.
  • Fundamental understanding of business strategy and how to connect inclusion & diversity to business priorities and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and turn that analysis into actionable I&D solutions.
  • Experience working with employee resource groups, HR, Talent Acquisition, and other stakeholders to assess and manage to enterprise diversity goals.
  • A proven track record of creating and implementing inclusion & diversity solutions.
  • May select, manage, develop, and evaluate vendors or consultants to ensure the efficient execution of strategic initiatives.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple complex, time-sensitive priorities, and competing demands with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, highly competent presenter, able to gain credibility, engender trust and influence at all levels
  • Strong collaboration skills, bias for action, ability to lead multiple projects to completion and produce tangible results.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making as well as ability to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Broad business acumen combined with deep functional knowledge of I&D best practices


Education/Expertise:
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in Inclusion and Diversity, HR, or Organizational Development with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective strategies and deliver enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • DEI certifications a plus, but not required
