Specific Responsibilities:
A summer research internship is available in the Department at the Foster City, CA, campus of Gilead Sciences. The candidate should be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program with a Major in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering (or similar)

Essential Functions:
In August 2022, the main warehouse is launching SAP for inbound receipts and outbound shipments. The Supply Chain Organization will begin documenting the new procedures and training the entire warehouse team on the new processes. This intern will act as a project coordinator with direct supervision from the OPEX Manager and Area Director.

This position will work with key stakeholders to assess relevant business factors and develop inventory strategies to meet evolving business needs. Daily activities would be to work with the local Supply Chain Operations team to walk current existing business processes, collect/evaluate data and determine potential improvement initiatives. These initiatives are intended to generate efficiency, cost reduction and continuous improvement in operations at the La Verne facility. Therefore, individuals will need to have an interest in utilizing analytical, structural, conceptual and social skills to execute this role.

The SCOPE of this assignment is to deliver successful outcomes for new warehousing procedures and be part of the go-live using SAP in the August timeframe.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Undergraduate (or graduate student, if applicable) in the or related field enrolled in a 4-year accredited US university/college; including enrollment in the Fall Semester after completing the internship
  • Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to complete 10-12 consecutive weeks between May and September
  • Meeting Management
  • Action Item Tracking and Completion
  • Documentation of Project Plan
  • Project Management Competency (good communication, organization and structure)
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard practices in inventory management theory and product lifecycle management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply results to resolve business issues
  • Exercises strong written and clear/consistent verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates project management and execution skills
  • Functional knowledge of ERP, advanced skills in Excel
  • Customer Service experience is a plus
  • Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination* prior to start of internship
