Purpose and Scope:

Reporting to the Director, Gene Therapy Portfolio Strategy, the Senior Manager, Gene Therapy Portfolio Strategy is part of the Astellas Primary Focus Genetic Regulation team that helps Astellas achieve leadership in the discovery and development of gene therapies. This role will be maintain a unified interface for the critical internal and external stakeholders for Astellas Gene Therapy Center of Excellence (COE), facilitating cross-functional planning and communications across corporate and COE divisions.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management expertise for the Astellas Gene Therapies Center of Excellence (COE) organization including generation and monitoring of COE level portfolio timelines, alignment and monitoring of cross functional goals; organizing quarterly program review

  • Develop and maintain a network of stakeholders between the COE and Astellas to assist in the accomplishment organizational goals, and provide a unified interface for the COE and Corporate functions.

  • Facilitate key managerial reporting process including assisting with the preparation of monthly report and quarterly review materials with senior management, portfolio timeline communication with investor relations group and related activities as required

  • Provide project management expertise for strategic initiatives led by SVP, Primary Focus Lead, Genetic Regulation and Director, Gene Therapy Portfolio Strategy

  • Assist with COE budget planning process and discussions with the COE Leadership Forum and broader Astellas stakeholders

  • Support communication of strategy decisions and updates to the members of the COE

  • As a member of Primary Focus Genetic Regulation group, champion overall organizational ambitions for Astellas Gene Therapies and contribute to COE discussions.

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • This role will support Astellas Gene Therapies with a portfolio of 3 clinical programs and more than 10 research programs

Organizational Context:

This role reports to the Director, Gene Therapy Portfolio Strategy. This role will work closely with

SVP, Primary Focus Lead Genetic Regulation; Astellas Gene Therapies Leadership; Corporate Strategy; Finance; Corporate Advocacy; Development Project Management; M&D communications.

Qualifications:

Required

  • BS/BA in related field with 7+ years of project management experience, 5+ years in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry

  • Passion and interest in the development of new technologies, and a focus on improving the lives of patients with serious genetic conditions

  • Outstanding project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and organizational skills

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; and appreciates the importance of clear oral and written communication in being effective

  • Ability to understand the needs and challenges of distinct functions (clinical development, research, commercial, corporate) and deliver workable solutions

  • Experience and managing cross-functional initiatives; Outstanding influencing skills up, down and cross the organization including senior management, comfortable operating with incomplete information

  • Ability to present highly complex issues, deliver high-level presentations and facilitate effective discussions with senior management to drive decision-making

  • Track record of delivering in a fast-paced, innovative, dynamic environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, and bringing a learner's mindset to daily activities

Preferred

  • An advanced degree in related field

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
