The Opportunity 

In this role, you will support the execution of projects and processes that drive strategic initiatives by utilizing project management principles. You will have the opportunity to lead cross-functional Project Team(s) and ensure connectivity of Technical Expert Teams in support of the overall project delivery. Lead the development and manage the execution of high-quality, integrated cross-functional plans for projects. Strong technical development/CMC background is critical and knowing defining project scope, creating processes, collaborating with other teams, supporting deliverables, and working cross-functionally are core characteristics.

The Role 

  • Lead and mentor a team of technical project managers, providing learning and development of junior project management staff while implementing R&D project strategy

  • Oversight for R&D Vaccines programs to ensure objectives are met and barrier removed

  • Responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure of R&D projects (Development, Device, and CMC) at the project level.

  • Lead teams in the development of the project strategy.

  • Responsible for leading cross-functional project teams to ensure that the project deliverables are achieved; issues and risks are identified and managed

  • Collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure project requirements and constraints are fully developed and understood while working within a matrixed environment.

  • Monitor projects and serves as a liaison between project teams, business partners and relevant stakeholders.

  • Prepare routine project status updates via formal and informal channels (monthly reports, project review reports, ad hoc reports).

  • Identify issues that may delay project deliverables and recommends risk mitigation strategies, contingencies, and actions, when appropriate

  • Accountable for the preparation and maintenance of all project documentation and administration.

  • Where relevant, support collaboration activities with external partners in the preparation and management of legal agreements and integration of services, technologies and capabilities to ensure delivery of projects.

Your skills and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • An advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in Science or Engineering, PMP certification, Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent is preferred.

  • Ability to lead, drive and motivate people to achieve goals.

  • Experience with direct reports and managing teams required.

  • 5-7 years’ experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (or where relevant a biomedical research organization).

  • In-depth knowledge in drug research, development and manufacturing processes of pharmaceuticals (CMC, non-clinical, and clinical).

  • Knowledge of GLP and GMP manufacturing preferred

  • Ability to lead, drive and motivate people to achieve goals.

  • Experience with direct reports and managing teams required.

  • 5-7years’ experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (or where relevant a biomedical research organization).

  • Knowledge of GLP and GMP manufacturing preferred

  • 5+years’ experience as a project manager leading cross-functional project teams in a matrixed, global environment, including those with complex technical, geographic, and/or regulatory elements.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams and delivering projects to meet business objectives on time, within budget and with quality.

  • Proficient in the use of Project Management processes and tools (e.g. Microsoft Project and Mind Mapping software)

  • Demonstrated success working well in ambiguity and at a fast pace

  • Organizational, written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work in teams is required.
