Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Scientist with strong expertise in skeletal muscle biology and experience in designing and implementing in vitro and in vivo experiments focused on muscle function, growth, and regeneration. The Obesity, Muscle and Metabolism group at Regeneron is committed to discovering novel targets and innovative medicines to treat obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, NASH and muscle diseases. The candidate will be responsible for leading therapeutic target discovery and validation studies, as well as furthering the development of validated targets.

As a Scientist in Obesity, Muscle, and Metabolism, a typical day may include the following: 

-  Survey the literature and available genetic databases for potential therapeutic targets for muscle diseases.

-  Independently design studies for testing therapeutic efficacy of novel drugs in vitro and in mouse models of muscle disease.

-  Collaborate with other departments to leverage novel in-house technologies for the development of muscle therapies.

-  Record keeping, write research reports and create presentations.

-  Communicate and report study findings, analyses and future directions with senior leadership, administration, and collaborators.

-  Coordinate with Regeneron and external collaborator scientists to integrate findings and analyses into new and existing programs.

-  Participate in writing manuscripts and coordinating their publication.

-  Provide scientific and technical supervision to junior staff, including initial training, ongoing instruction, planning detailed procedures for defined projects with timelines, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD and 3+ years post-doctoral or industry experience. A strong record of innovation and research accomplishments in the field of skeletal muscle biology is required. Experience in working with mouse models of muscle disease, muscle stem cell culture, and various cell/molecular techniques (transfection, RNA/protein analysis, immunostaining) are preferred.
