This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Remote work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas' Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in remote work are encouraged to apply.

Purpose and Scope:

The position supports financial reporting, planning and analysis for Astellas US Commercial Operations. This requires close collaboration with commercial finance personnel who support US revenue forecasting and operating expense management, in addition to partnering with local and global financial planning database (BPC) personnel.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports review and consolidation of monthly and quarterly managerial reporting for US Commercial.

  • Supports review and consolidation of managerial planning cycles for US Commercial, such as mid-term strategic planning (MTP), annual budget, and current year forecast updates.

  • Assists in the headcount and payroll planning process by ensuring all headcount data is fully reconciled and the salary and benefit assumptions are appropriately applied.

  • Assists in the compilation and preparation of presentations for local and API management, including analysis of actual results and major planning cycles.

  • Completes month-end accounting closes including managerial eliminations to ensure accurate records, as needed.

  • Creates ad hoc reports as needed by Management.

  • Completes formal monthly managerial variance reports for US Commercial Finance, Global Commercial Finance and relevant management teams.

  • Develops and maintains an environment that effectively supports the planning process through a strong working knowledge of the BPC system. Able to effectively work with Global Business Services to update changes to the planning system/environment.

  • Facilitates expense and revenue inputs into Astellas financial planning software.

  • Provides other US Commercial financial support as required

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Supports financial planning cycles for operating budgets for US Commercial through analysis, coordination with US Commercial Finance teams, and coordination of the BPC system with Global Business Services.

  • Completes formal monthly managerial variance reports for US Commercial Finance, Global Commercial Finance and relevant management teams.

Organizational Context:

This position will report directly to the Senior Director, Commercial Finance US. The Senior Director, Commercial Finance US reports directly to the Exec Director, Commercial Finance US.

Qualifications

Required

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.

  • 3-5+ years previous accounting or finance experience.

  • Proven strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills managing data streams.

  • Strong computer skills with required proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.

  • MBA degree or CPA certification a plus.

  • Experience working on financial reporting systems such as BPC, Hyperion, or TM1
