Position Summary:
The Ideaya Translational Sciences Group is seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist in Oncology to lead the identification, development, and clinical implementation of biomarkers to support the projects across the Ideaya portfolio. The individual will be responsible for translating the preclinical hypotheses and insights from data mining to inform biomarker strategy. The candidate will manage direct reports and work extensively with research scientists, biomarker operation, and translational data scientists. An understanding of molecular signaling pathways in solid tumor indication is highly desirable


What you’ll do:

    • Lead experimental work and data mining to support biomarker hypotheses validation and biomarkers identification 
    • Determine appropriate biomarker platforms and evaluate them experimentally
    • Develop, validate, and outsource biomarker assays including pharmacodynamic, predictive, prognostic, safety, and other
    • Analyze and interpret biomarker data, present updates at biomarker sub-team, project team meeting and other company meetings to support decisions and timelines
    • Manage direct reports and mentor junior scientists
    • Maintain the knowledge of relevant scientific technological advances and the competitive landscape
    • Contribute to scientific posters and peer-reviewed journal articles


Requirements:

    • PhD in a scientific discipline with 4+ years of work experience or a BA/BS or MA/MS plus 8+ years of work experience in research and/or development environment
    • Demonstrable experience in the design and development of oncology biomarker assays
    • Experience managing CROs and putting together contracts
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience in drug discovery and/or development is desirable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • A good team player with strong interpersonal skills that can communicate well to establish & nurture highly effective relationships with colleagues, CROs and key stakeholders to support and advance project goals and objectives.
    • Self-motivated to work effectively and collaboratively in a dynamic environment with an openness to learn new skills
    • Possess strong organizational skills and be able to multi-task, to meet timelines efficiently and productively.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively on multiple projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
    • Hands on experience with development of biomarker assays using the following platforms ELISA, MSD, IHC, LCMS
    • Knowledge and interest in cutting edge technologies and data analysis tools are a plus
