As a member of the Bio-Medicine Design team, you will develop cutting-edge laboratory automation workflows and software tools to efficiently identify best in class therapies to improve the lives of patients worldwide.

What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Associate Scientist, you will be a member of a discovery team that uses a multifaceted approach for advancing biotherapeutics to support several research areas. Your experience automating complex workflows using liquid handling, data processing, and reporting will help to accelerate the pace of discovery. You will further develop automation approaches and software that improve the efficiency of characterizing biotherapeutics and captures laboratory results within a relational database. In addition, you will implement automated workflows for multiple groups by leveraging existing computational tools to streamline the reporting of laboratory results. As Pfizer’s portfolio evolves to include non-protein therapies, you will be key to developing automation strategies that support mRNA and LNP based therapies. As an automation specialist, your experience with programming, bioinformatics, and relational databases will be essential to drive the efficient identification of novel therapies across multiple discovery groups.

How You Will Achieve

  • Develop automated liquid handling, data processing, and reporting workflows across multiple groups to accelerate the discovery of biotherapeutic and non-protein based therapies.

  • Develop software tools to optimize the capture, analysis, and reporting of results within a relational database.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of laboratory scientists, bioinformatics scientists, and data scientists to ensure efficient advancement of the discovery pipeline.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • MS degree with 0-2 years or BS degree with 2- 4 years of demonstrated automation, programming, or software engineering experience with emphasis on pharmaceutical drug discovery.

  • Experience optimizing high throughput workflows.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with laboratory scientists, from multiple disciplines, using state of the art drug discovery techniques.

Nice-to-Have

  • Hands on laboratory experience working with automated liquid handling instruments developing an array of assays.

  • Experience working with Biacore, Octet, KinExA, or LigandTracer Biosensor instruments is beneficial.

  • Experience working with Visual Basic or R.

  • Experience with object-oriented programming is beneficial.

  • Experience with relational databases and web-based tools.
