Battery Materials Simulation Scientist (Physics Simulation)

We’re seeking a Battery Materials Simulations Scientist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!

As a member of our growing materials science discovery team, you’ll play a key role in providing solutions for atomic-scale modeling, physics-based chemical simulations, and machine learning in the battery materials space. As a member of our growing materials science discovery team, you’ll focus on using atomic-scale modeling and physics-based chemical simulations to provide deep understanding, computed properties and estimates of complex performance indicators for battery materials and processes.

Who will love this job:

• An expert in the materials chemistry and application of first-principles simulation, quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics or solid-state modeling to:
• Anode, cathode, or electrolyte materials
• Solid-solid and solid-liquid interfaces
• Ion transport
• Analysis of chemical pathways at the heart of electrochemical device operation
• An excellent communicator with great interpersonal and organizational skills
• A proven researcher who enjoys working independently and as part of a team 

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with internal and external collaborators using quantum mechanical simulations, molecular dynamics to analyze and model battery materials and processes in electrochemical devices
• Elucidate key mechanisms and controlling factors in battery materials performance
• Run large-scale simulation projects on the cloud to generate data for the development of robust and accurate machine-learned models

What you’ll need:

• MS or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• Postdoctoral experience preferred
• Python programming proficiency preferred
