We have the following exciting opportunity in Foster City, CA: Director, HIV Opinion Leader Marketing

Specific Responsibilities

The Director will be responsible for supporting Opinion Leader Programming for the US HIV Marketing team across both Treatment and Prevention.

The Director will be a key contributor on the OLP Marketing team responsible for supporting the $13B HIV franchise including Biktarvy and Descovy for PrEP. They will lead advisory boards and support other opinion leader activities including speaker bureau, key conferences, and KOL development. They will be responsible for significant budget oversight and management of key agency partnerships. The Director partner closely across marketing functions along with various cross functional stakeholders and external vendors to implement strategy and tactics oriented to this objective.

Essential Duties and Job Functions
  • Leads advisory boards, including OL engagement and development
  • Monitors the complete HIV Landscape seeking out key insights and areas of opportunity to support ongoing marketing efforts
  • Supports speaker bureau initiatives including content development
  • Collaborates closely with HIV Treatment and Prevention teams to ensure broad communication of advisor insights and alignment on marketing direction and coordinated efforts for the success of the full HIV Business Unit
  • Works cross functionally to ensure scientifically accurate and compelling presentations
  • Cultivates relationships, manages and provides direction and leadership across key agency partners to deliver on key strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Manages and supports promotional budget for assigned efforts
  • Supports the development and execution of the HIV OLP Marketing plan supporting Opinion Leader strategies and tactics
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and policies
  • Approximately 30% travel

  • Adept at forming and maintaining a collaborative work environment within cross functional teams
  • Track record of successful pharma/ biotech marketing in specialty categories
  • Clear demonstrated understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on developing marketing materials
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics through storytelling


Specific Education and Experience Requirements
  • 12+ years of marketing or communications experience within pharma/ biotech
  • A minimum of 5 years of brand development and marketing preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA in marketing or related fields preferred
  • Proven track record of marketing fundamentals, including advisory boards, brand plan development and execution, strategy and sales and commercial programs
  • Therapeutic Area knowledge strongly preferred
