Job Details

As a Facilities Project Engineer, you will plan, design, and oversee the design and construction for existing and new projects. We manage critical projects including renovation and re-purposing of existing space. With the expansion of our business, we may also be involved in the complete design and building of new areas. This is your opportunity to apply well-developed functional knowledge in a variety of situations within our growing Facilities Engineering team.

In this role, a typical day might include:
  • Overseeing and contributing to design and construction projects with limited supervision
  • Conducting and supporting preliminary surveys and preparing or aiding in the preparation of schematic, preliminary, and work drawings for the construction and maintenance of innovative or remodeled facilities
  • Estimating cost of projects, establishing contracts and specifications for labor materials and equipment for construction projects, and securing bids from contractors with the help of design consultants
  • Evaluating and making recommendations concerning changes in contract documents and ensuring that authorized changes are implemented, in accordance with federal, state, and local building codes
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors regarding preliminary layout, construction procedures, and code requirements that apply to building projects
  • Managing cost, schedule, and scope of facilities-related projects including renovations, new equipment installs, and new construction
  • Coordinating projects with other departments to minimize risk and impact to existing and ongoing operations
  • Compiling required documents for turnover of new or renovated space/equipment to area managers and facilities for maintenance
  • Supporting equipment qualification efforts and executing new equipment commissioning
  • Coordinating specialized training for new systems and equipment
  • Possibly supervising work of contractors
  • Designing and implementing work in compliance with all safety, site cleanliness, and current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)

This role might be for you if you:

  • Enjoy being able to think independently to make quality decisions based on analyzing available and potentially limited information
  • Have a knack for setting priorities within projects to align with department and/or business initiatives
  • Like writing standard reports to proactively communicate project statuses
  • Thrive in a team environment where you gather consensus in a timely manner to keep projects advancing to completion
  • Find working in an ambiguous environment with changing priorities exciting
  • Take a proactive approach to working with customers and partners and developing peer relationships

To be considered for this Facilities Project Engineer position, you must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field and at least 2 years of proven experience focused on construction management. We would also consider a Master’s degree with 1 year of relevant experience. Candidates with a relevant Bachelor’s degree in engineering and no experience may be considered for an Associate Facilities Project Engineer level position.
