Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI) is a continuing medical education (CME) company. We are looking for a motivated individual with strong communication and writing skills and a solid background in medical/neuroscience to join the NEI content development team.

I. Position Summary

The Medical Writer is responsible for creating content that is developed into CME educational activities for mental health professionals. These educational activities are created in many formats, including live presentations, videos, Web content, and print media. The Medical Writer is responsible for content development from conception to completion, and may work with other Medical Writers on various projects. This position requires frequent communication with scientific advisers and the Vice President of Content Development and adherence to multiple simultaneous timelines. The Medical Writer must have the ability to handle multiple projects efficiently within a collaborative team environment. 


II. Responsibilities and Principal Duties

·         Creation of educational content for a wide range of educational formats including:

  • Slide decks
  • Patient case studies
  • Scripts/storyboards for animated videos
  • Online articles
  • Print media (manuscripts, booklets, posters)
  • Assistance in the preparation of Program development materials, including needs assessments

 

·         Execution of all tasks supporting the duties listed above, including:

  • Conduct of literature searches and data analysis
  • Exercise of sound scientific judgment
  • Generation of outlines and storyboards
  • Collaboration with the other departments to create graphics and animations
  • Maintenance of strong liaison with all internal and external parties

III. Job Demands and Expectations

  • The medical writer should:
  • Have a strong general knowledge in the medical sciences (psychiatry and neurology a plus)
  • Keep abreast of current developments in the medical sciences
  • Exhibit the ability and willingness to quickly expand their own knowledge base into unfamiliar therapeutic areas
  • Take responsibility for and ownership of the scientific accuracy and integrity of all materials that they develop
  • Be able to work well under pressure
  • Be able to accept criticism constructively, from all sources
  • Maintain an objective and professional attitude at all times
  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and have a strong attention to detail
  • Have a results-driven work style, with a passion for achieving high levels of performance

 

IV. Qualifications and Requirements

A PhD level of education is expected, or the equivalent in experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail are essential. A great deal of creativity is also expected. The applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus in PowerPoint.

Travel to support project needs (e.g., annual conferences) will also be required from time to time.
