ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position is of critical importance, as this individual will represent a sales organization that is committed to these principles.    

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Identifying and developing relationships with national key opinion leaders (KOLs) for various ophthalmic therapeutic categories (anterior, mild steroid, dry eye etc.). 
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers to identify and cultivate Regional KOLs.
  • Implement guidelines on determining Tiers, contract type, and SOW/invoice management.
  • Work closely with the Executive Administrative Assistant in tracking signed contracts and invoices, following up with KOLs as needed.
  • Align with Marketing and Training on KOL needs to identify the best fit based on educational interest.
  • Deliver MLR approved, education-focused messages, as well as the assigned therapeutic area disease-state information to target KOLs. 
  • Enhance KOL awareness of Eyevance/Santen Pharmaceutical brand and products including clinical data, safety & efficacy. 
  • Attends most/all regional and national Society Meetings including sessions/lectures and meeting with KOLs/podium presenters.
  • Serves as liaison to all national professional associations (AAO, ASCRS, AOA, AAOpt, etc.), and teaching institutions to increase Eyevance/Santen’s share of voice and presence.
  • Training resource for commercial at corporate meetings (National Sales Meeting, Regional POAs and IST).
  • Identify, understand, and communicate external (competitor) strategies.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience, preferably in a scientific field. 
  • 10 (ten) or more years of successful ophthalmic sales/marketing experience; professional relations experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of healthcare institutions and commercial managed care; experience selling within ophthalmic healthcare institutions preferred. 
  • Eye care/Ophthalmology experience required.
  • Must have exceptional talent selection skills, oral and written communication skills.
  • Executive presence and excellent presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (overnight) and willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Interacts at multiple levels inside and outside the company. Tact, diplomacy, and a high level of professionalism are essential.
