  • Lead a team of scientists to deliver appropriate data packages to support drug candidate development from lead optimization through IND filing.
  • Drive in-vitro and in-vivo pharmacology for drug candidates including establishing PK/PD relationships, building appropriate screening assays, designing, and performing mechanism-of-action studies, and testing efficacy of drug candidate molecules.
  • Develop acute and/or chronic murine models of inflammation to support the development of preclinical drug candidates in rheumatological or other autoimmune diseases.
  • Demonstrated skills in immunological techniques such as flow cytometry, PCR/gene analysis, protein/cytokine quantification, histopathology, and other functional endpoints.
  • Design experiments, analyze and present results at various AbbVie scientific forums and external conferences.
  • Author and review technical reports, protocols, and other key documents.
  • Support Pharmacology needs including acting as functional rep for pipeline projects and leading new target proposals or model builds.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, documentation, safety, appropriate handling of materials, and humane treatment of lab animals.

  • BS, MS or PhD in Immunology or related biological sciences discipline with typically 12+ (BS), 10+ (MS), or 4+ (PhD) years of experience.
  • Experience in managing research associates is preferred.
  • Candidate must be proficient in performing basic in-vivo techniques including dosing, biospecimen collection, and necropsy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment including collaborations with team-members from other locations and cross-functionally on various projects with colleagues in other functional areas to meet team and company goals.
