Gilead Sciences Inc. is looking for a dedicated Engineering intern resource to provide project support for qualification of Clinical Flex Fill Line at its La Verne, CA facility. During the summer of 2022, the qualification of Clinical Flex Fill Line will be taking place. During this time, new equipment will undergo qualification.

Specific Responsibilities & Desired Outcomes:
  • Learning principles of (and subsequently demonstrating) Good Engineering Practice (GEP), Good Documentation Practice (GDP), and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Learning principles of (and subsequently demonstrating) Data Integrity within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment as it pertains to Engineering planning, design, documentation, and testing.
  • Creating, developing, revising, and editing technical documentation in support of manufacturing systems, including requirements, specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Arranging, field-verifying, and redlining Engineering drawings and schematics of manufacturing systems.
  • Performing, documenting, and providing general support for Engineering commissioning testing of manufacturing systems.
  • Performing various clerical tasks in support of Engineering activities, including document preparation, scanning, copying, etc.


At project end, the following outcomes are desired:
  • The Engineering intern resource should have become familiar with principles of GEP, GDP, and GMP within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • The Engineering intern resource should have become familiar with principles of process Engineering within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment as it pertains to fill line operations.
  • The Engineering intern resource should have added significant value to the project, demonstrated by completion of or assisting in completion of project deliverables.


Candidate Experience, Knowledge, and Area of Study
  • Completion of 2+ years of classwork in an Engineering curriculum at an accredited university. All Engineering candidates are acceptable, but candidates with classwork in a curricula focusing on Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer/Systems Engineering, and/or Engineering Technology are preferred.
  • Familiarity with and experience operating Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Familiarity with and experience operating Windows-based devices (e.g. PCs).
  • Strong technical writing abilities.
  • Motivated to learn new concepts and able to apply concepts in unfamiliar situations


Required Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's/Masters/PhD program at an accredited US based university or college
  • Must be Rising Junior or Senior in undergrad or a Graduate or Doctoral Student
  • Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
  • Must be able to work remotely or relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship
  • Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination* prior to start of internship
