Lets do this! Lets change the world. This vital individual will report to the Sr. Manager of the CfOR Project Management Office function.

Amgen is seeking an Associate Project Manager at its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Center for Observational Research (CfOR) organization.

This role will support the CfOR organization by handling all phases of projects dealing with Real World Evidence data in support of CfOR Observational Studies. The Associate Project Manager will work with the Amgen Responsible Employees (RAEs) within CfOR to lead, supervise and analyze key operational data. In addition, the Associate Project Manager will stay informed of best practices and provide innovative, impactful ideas to optimize processes to support the organizations growth strategies.

Amgen has established the Center for Observational Research (CfOR) which consolidates Epidemiology, Pharmacovigilance and Health Economics Observational Research into one organization. CfOR will craft, conduct, analyze, interpret, and publish observational research that advises the safety, efficacy, efficiency, and economic value of Amgen products.

Observational research (OR) is an increasingly important component in drug development and commercialization. This team contributes evidence regarding the frequency and distribution of disease or the clinical burden of disease, the natural history or clinical course of disease, the design of clinical trials, cost and utilization patterns, and the safety and efficiency of interventions.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provides Project Management technical expertise in all project phases across multiple projects.
  • Applies Agile principles in project management activities.
  • Owns the teams in defining project goals and achievements against realistic timelines, assigning project tasks, supervising daily activities, and ensuring the team meets all project goals.
  • Anticipates and resolves conflict situations in a win-win outcome.
  • Builds project timeline, roles and responsibilities matrices, risk and issues logs and other project artifacts.
  • Plans and conducts project meetings.
  • Prepares presentation material, project reports and dashboards.
  • Supports contracting activities (as appropriate) for the organization.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree OR
  • Associates degree and 4 years of project management experience Or
  • High school diploma / GED and 6 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of project management experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Experience in Agile project management.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new concepts and tools.
  • Experienced in project management tools MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira or equivalent.
  • Scrum Master and/or Scrum Product Owner Certification highly preferred.
  • PMP certification is highly desirable but not required.
