BMS is a leader in the discovery and development of novel therapies in the field of immuno-oncology. Protein generation is critical to all of our efforts. We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic protein scientist at a Scientist level to join the Recombinant Proteins Group at the Redwood City site of Bristol-Myers Squibb. The candidate will be expected to work on a variety of projects to purify and characterize antibodies and antigens from multiple expression systems.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Purify proteins using variety of systems (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, etc.) at a milligram to gram level.
  • Purify and characterize proteins using multiple purification platforms (i.e. AKTA Avant, Agilent HPLC etc.).
  • Analyze proteins using standard protein characterization methods (SDS-PAGE/CE-SDS, analytical SEC, SEC-MALS, endotoxin, LC/MS etc.).
  • Standard maintenance of AKTA and other instruments.
  • Perform experiments with strong attention to detail and documentation.
  • Excellent written and oral skills are necessary.
  • Accomplish goals under project team time lines.

Requirements:

  • BS degree with 8+ years of industry experience or MS degree with 6+ years of industry experience or PhD with some industry experience. The degree should be in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or similar field.
  • Independent ability and experience in generation and characterization of high quality proteins for immunizations, crystallography or equivalent purposes is required.
  • Strong expertise in antibody purification and characterization for in vitro or in vivo uses is also required.
  • Experience in automated purification is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of molecular biology and mammalian expression is preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary biologics discovery team.
