Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and creative Senior Research Scientist with experience in assay design and assay data analytics to join the Antibody Generation team. The candidate will be expected to spear-head the set-up of functional assays for binder characterization, perform screening to identify relevant lead candidates and help disseminate protocols the team. Deep understanding of assay design, statistics as well as data aggregation and visualization is required. The candidate will be expected to identify assay improvements and drive optimization from the lab bench, and work with the Automation team to make assays amenable for high-throughput screening. Teaching and supervision of junior scientists may be part of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish functional mechanism-of-action assays to identify leads.
  • Closely collaborate with fellow team members to execute screening for BMS lead programs and disseminate protocols to fellow team members.
  • Assay optimization and collaboration with the Automation team to make assays amenable to high-throughput execution
  • Trouble-shoot and optimize protocols and propose creative solutions to improve efficiency to existing processes.
  • Collaborate with functional screening groups across departments as well as IT to improve data management and decision making in hit/lead selection
  • Analysis of big data sets across programs to establish patterns and predictiveness of read-outs
  • Excellent written and oral skills are necessary
  • Accomplish goals under project team time lines
  • Provide technical guidance to team members; may supervise/teach junior staff

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or advanced degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, Biotechnology or related field with 2 to 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in Elisa, flow cytometry, and imaging based cellular assay formats
  • Statistical knowledge to enable analysis of assay data for robustness and accuracy
  • Experience in cell culture, cell based immune activation assays and antibody sequence analysis is desirable.
  • Experience in aggregating and statistical analysis of assay data from automated systems, visualization of large datasets, and assign thresholds to identify leads is required.
  • Excellent time management, record keeping and organizational skills.
