Position Title: Scientist, Analytical Development

Reports to: Director, Analytical Development

Company Background:

Century Therapeutics is developing novel allogeneic living cell products for oncology that overcome the limitations of current cell therapies. Century's genetically-engineered, universal iPSC-derived immune effector cell products are designed to specifically target hematologic and solid tumor cancers. Century's foundational technology is built on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that have unlimited self-renewing capacity. This enables complex cellular engineering to produce controlled cell banks of modified cells that can be expanded and differentiated into desired immune effector cells, which can supply vast amounts of allogeneic, homogeneous therapeutic products. This platform differentiates Century from other approaches that utilize non-renewable donor-derived cells.

Role:

The Scientist, Analytical Development is responsible for developing, optimizing, validating, and transferring analytical methods for the release and characterization of Century's genetically-engineered cell therapy products. in support of early development programs. This role will interact extensively with internal and external partners to advance pipeline programs through key CMC milestones. The successful candidate will need strong scientific background, interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with other groups across organizations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, qualify, and perform multicolor flow cytometry-based assays for profiling the company's NK and T cell allogeneic cell products
  • Develop, qualify, and perform cell-based assays for evaluating T and NK cell functionality in development and manufacturing samples (i.e., cytotoxicity, ADCC, cytokine staining, degranulation, ELIspot, etc.)
  • Develop, qualify, and perform molecular assays (i.e., qPCR, ddPCR) for evaluating copy number and expression
  • Establish best practices and SOPs for maintaining, calibrating, and operating analytical equipment
  • Ensure high-quality, timely documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks · Author technical and scientific documents including protocols, reports, and SOPs
  • Support assay transfer and validation in partnership with internal and external QC laboratories
  • Foster a collaborative and scientifically rigorous team culture


Qualifications:
  • BS or MS degree relevant biological sciences field; and 4-10 years for BS, or 2-7 years for MS, of relevant professional experience.


Requirements:
  • Full-time, hands-on experience in design, validation and execution of cell-based assays, flow cytometry panels, and/or PCR-based methods
  • Experience with T cell /NK cell functional assays (ICS, ELISpot, etc.), and multiplexed ELISA / electrochemiluminescence platforms such as MSD and Luminex
  • Experience with use and maintenance of flow cytometry and/or PCR instruments
  • Cell culture experience
  • Strong data analysis experience
  • SOP development and working knowledge of GxPs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
