We are looking for Manager Automation (Systems) to join our growing team. The Manager Automation supervises a team of Automation Systems Administrators managing a data historian system that supports manufacturing. In this multifaceted role you will develop an existing team, bring forth a process improvement philosophy, and maintain positive relationships with internal customers.

As a Manager Automation, a typical day might include the following:

  • Managing the performance, development, and results of the team

  • Providing technical automation systems support to manufacturing and support areas

  • Coordinating the investigation of manufacturing deviations and anomalies related to automation systems, IT infrastructure, and software

  • Leading projects related to corrective action or systems performance improvement

  • Delivering on projects of large scope requiring analysis of business metrics including production, performance and/or operational data

  • Providing technical review of life cycle documentation, software testing, and protocols

  • Leading team to support Quality Assurance with automated system test plan approval related to change control and validation projects

  • Managing and maintaining project portfolio and work metrics, departmental data, and technical reports to effectively communicate as appropriate

  • Creating, maintaining, and approving SOPs and SLC documents

  • Have a solid understanding of PI Historian and Rockwell applications

  • Can break down work to make meaningful projections for project schedules and resourcing

  • Have the ability to mentor and empower a team to deliver results under demanding timelines and situations

  • Can organize and present technical overviews to engineering staff, multi-functional departments, and management independently while influencing desired courses of action

  • Possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, including solid project management experience

  • Are able to communicate across all levels and capable of effectively meeting and exceeding customer expectations

  • Have the skills to balance changing priorities with increasing workload by making timely decisions and delegating tasks

  • Are effective at completing tasks expeditiously and providing updates as needed

  • Are highly skilled in developing and editing Software Lifecycle Documentation, design documents, technical evaluations, and test plan documentation while applying the requirements for cGMP and following GAMP 5 guidelines

  • Have a passion for developing business processes and procedures

  • Are experienced with designing/configuring and troubleshooting networked systems

  • Consistently maintain professionalism in communication, maintaining composure in high-pressure situations

  • Strive for compliance with regulatory, corporate, and site-specific policies and procedures

To be considered for the Manager Automation (Systems) position, you must have a BS/MS in engineering, computer science or related field and 7+ years of experience in design, configuration, administration, and management of software, databases and computerized systems. Prior experience within a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility is preferred. Familiarity with PLC, HMI, historian and product testing software strongly preferred. Applicants with a relevant BS/MS and 8+ years of experience may be considered for Senior Manager Automation. Level will be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.
