Job Summary

The Regional Field Medical Director, WEST is a member of a field-based team of scientific and clinical experts who develop and enhance relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and internal stakeholders to help support the medical objectives at Sierra Oncology. This position will report to the Senior Director, Field Medical Team Lead. The preferred cities for this position include Los Angeles, San Francisco or Phoenix.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, engage and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders, clinicians, investigators and other HCPs within academic and community settings in accordance with compliance guidance for Medical Affairs activities.
  • Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with Medical Affairs strategies and support product launches.
  • Provide medical support in the assigned territory to academic and community HCPs to ensure accurate disease and product information and non-promotional medical education related to Sierra Oncology medicines.
  • Serve as medical liaison to support research inquiries and discussions and facilitate External Scientific Research (EST) process for proposals arising within assigned territory.
  • Support payer discussions as needed and in compliance with related policies and regulations.
  • Provide support for congress meetings, including scientific coverage, competitive intelligence, medical booth staffing and external engagements.
  • Participate in ongoing training program and contributes to development of resources for external engagements, and scientific communication.
  • Provide medical support to commercial teams with training activities.
  • Deliver medical/scientific presentations to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Support planning and execution of regional/national advisory boards.
  • Responsible for development and execution of individual development plan.
  • Responsible for individual documentation of field engagements and contributes to aggregate reporting of the Field Medical Team activities and value to the company.
  • Travel to meetings, face-to-face engagements, as required, estimated at 60%.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • PharmD, PhD or similar life sciences degree, preferably with Medical Affairs and Oncology experience, ideally in hematological cancers.
  • Minimum 3 years Field Medical Affairs experience in hematology/oncology, or equivalent experience and skill set to support the responsibilities.
  • This Director Level role will require strong scientific acumen, preferably a background in Hematologic Malignancies (ideally within Myeloproliferative Neoplasms)
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skill, including formal presentation skills, and well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and execute against key objectives and deliverables, on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to understand and interpret clinical research.
  • Resourceful, flexible, and ability to adapt to changing conditions in a fast-paced organization.
  • Motivated, self-starter who engages quickly, rolls up their sleeves and operates very effectively in a high-performance smaller, biopharmaceutical organization.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and a strong aptitude for adapting to new software and apps.
  • Ability to travel and manage a demanding schedule, which may require some evening and weekend availability (anticipated travel up to 60%).
