Summary
Associate Scientists at Arcus work in a highly embedded and highly collaborative model with colleagues across the organization. The Biology group is seeking a self-motivated and technically skilled researcher with expertise in the field of immunology who wishes to play a key role in advancing novel drug candidates from discovery into the clinic.

Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for implementing a variety of in vivo and in vitro model systems to build an in-depth understanding and biological dataset surrounding the modulation of immune cells and the broader tumor microenvironment by Arcus drug candidates. Additionally, the successful candidate will be involved in the validation of potential new targets prior to the initiation of drug discovery efforts, as well as establishing pharmacological readouts for pipeline candidates. This role is responsible for contributing experimentally as part of a multidisciplinary team, assembling data for internal and external distribution (including regulatory filings and conference presentations), and routinely communicating data at internal research meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in immunology, immuno-oncology, or a closely related field and have completed 5+ years of academic and/or industry experience.
  • Experience with the isolation and culture of primary immune cells
  • Working knowledge of immune-based in vitro assays, flow cytometry, and data analysis/visualization software
  • Competency in common molecular biology techniques, such as ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, real-time PCR, western blot, and transfection methods
  • Familiarity with the growth and manipulation of mammalian cell lines
  • Prior experience with in vivo mouse tumor models is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute well-researched and controlled experimental protocols with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required along with a solutions-based approach, flexibility, the ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives.
