Summary

The Sr. Manager position, reporting to the Sr. Director of FP&A, will support the operational finance needs of the CMC (manufacturing), research and nonclinical development teams, including the preclinical and translational organizations.  This role will work closely with the Director of Development Finance to support clinical supply chain, bridging between the CMC and development organizations and with the Director of Partnership Finance to ensure proper cross-charging of expenses and assist with financial analyses related to our collaborations and these respective functional areas at Arcus.

Responsibilities will include spending review and analysis, accounting and finance process/policy design and optimization, serving as a business partner to the CMC, research, nonclinical and supply chain teams to identify opportunities for potential cost savings and operating efficiencies.  As this is a new role at the company, helping to build new processes, establish, and grow internal relationships and help refine the scope of this role as our operating needs evolve will be key.  

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with CMC, research, nonclinical and clinical supply chain organizations to effectively budget and forecast operating costs and capital expenditures
  • Prepare and present regular financial updates to CMC, research, nonclinical and finance leadership, including senior R&D leadership
  • Partner with leadership across these organizations to manage finance activities, help identify areas of potential cost savings or operating efficiencies and assist in the implementation of changes as appropriate
  • Support financial requests with the program teams for governance presentations (for internal use or for collaboration partners)
  • Work closely with the FP&A team to monitor and analyze financial results vs. plan and effectively communicate information and conclusions
  • Partner with the accounting and partnership finance teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial information
  • Assist the accounting team with quarterly close procedures by providing analysis for variances in CMC, research, and nonclinical operating results (i.e., preparation or review of audit flux reports)
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and financial modeling/forecasting to support key management decision-making

Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ experience in a corporate finance support role is required; budgeting and financial analysis experience preferred
  • Experience working and partnering with CMC or research, or nonclinical development required; Demonstrated experience working in the biotech industry with a working business knowledge of R&D operations highly preferred
  • Highly motivated, driven and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Strong track record of working in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Aptitude for effective communication at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent analysis skills, think strategically
