Are you experienced developing medical strategies and plans while managing relationships with key opinion leaders?
As Director Medical Affairs, Rare Disease, you will oversee some of the medical affairs activities of the Rare Disease therapeutic area and will be responsible for contributing to the medical strategies and overall US medical affairs plan for Rare Disease, including, medical information responses, the scientific communications including poster presentations and publications (in conjunction with the Publication team), the design and medical monitoring of US-based clinical studies, and the approval of educational grants. Additionally, you will work with the MSL team and provide leadership and direction in developing and managing regional relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), work with KOLs on externally-sponsored study requests, provide internal (& relevant external) training, and prepare/supervise responses to Medical Information requests so that customers will be informed about the Rare Disease products and therapeutic areas in which Ipsen markets. Your key internal partners include the Medical Affairs and clinical operations group running the Rare Disease studies, the Rare Disease commercial team, and global Rare Disease franchise medical personnel.
Your role will involve:
Collaboration with cross-functional teams within Ipsen to provide medical and scientific expertise and marketplace feedback
Contribution to the scientific publication plan in US; designing and conducting clinical studies in conjunction with the North America Medical Affairs Operations group
Ensuring appropriate scientific, disease and Ipsen product training for the MSL team and other internal partners
Serving on medical and/or disease area and asset cross-functional committees as appropriate
Collaboratively developing and supervising the execution of the Rare Disease KOL identification process
Through the Medical Affairs Information Department and MSL team, create & disseminate medically sound information to support the safe & effective use of Ipsen Rare Disease products (adhering to Regulatory and Ipsen guidelines)
Medical input and management of budgets for clinical grants and medical education support activities (through Grants manager)

Education
MD or PhD
Experience
Minimum 6-8 years in pharmaceutical industry, with most in Medical Affairs, but some clinical trials/research experience a plus
Experience in Rare Disease a plus
Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills: ability to understand and respond to multiple external and internal customers’ demands, manage and handle conflict constructively required.
Experience in presenting and publishing scientific information a plus
Knowledge of clinical trial design, biostatistics
Ability to regularly fly on airplanes (ie. Attend HCP/customer meetings; attend Cambridge, MA meetings, etc.) required; proximity to airline hub city); Flexibility to travel 30% of time.
